A Word from the Bird: Thanksgiving

“Hi guys! It’s me, Skittles!

Sorry you haven’t heard from me in a while. I’ve been pretty busy these days. I’ve been chewing apart all the new toys Chelsea bought me over the summer,  practicing my flying skills, climbing up and down my new spiral swing, eating at least half an orange per day (quite a lot for a bird my size!), pooping out said orange, and the other day Chelsea gave me a WHOLE ROLL of toilet paper to shred because she’s been busy with all this bakery nonsense.  My days are quite full.

Anyway, I just wanted to wish you all a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING from all of us! A happy one for you at least. I don’t like Thanksgiving. For one thing, I’m not allowed near the kitchen because I might fly into the hot oven or slip into the gravy or something and secondly…there is another bird in the house that is getting more attention than me. It’s so unfair.

At least at the end of the day I don’t get eaten.

So I have a lot to be thankful for :)”

Holy smoke-a-roonie! Has life been crazy busy or what?! Where did September and October go??

1-2 : The cruise was awesome. Had a blast. Got a tan. You’ll be hearing/seeing more about it in the next little while than you probably care to.

3-4 : I turned the big 2-5 while we were on the cruise! Chris surprised me with a waterproof case for my iPad. Which means I got to read! It was magical. I have also since fulfilled a life-long dream of being able to read a book in the shower. I wish I could go back and tell my little kid self that yes…someday technology will make the impossible possible :)

Oh… and those keys you are seeing. Well…. Chelsea’s Cool Cakes now has an official bakery! Eeep! (<—That was me squealing a little bit!) I haven’t announced it officially yet because there are still a lot of things I need to do before it starts making real progress, but I have signed a lease and am on the path to getting all the necessary documents in order. This is definitely the craziest thing I’ve ever done (yes…it tops that time I deliberately let a tarantula crawl up my arm, which previously held the record). There’s not much to show at the moment as it’s currently more like a big empty building with a looooong to-do list than a functioning bakery, but expect a lot of exciting updates in the coming months!  And unfortunately less blog posts. If it seems like I’m non-existent… it’s this bakery’s fault. And Relief Society. ::Shiver::

5-6: What would a summary of the past few months be on The Adventures of C² without photos of food? These are Kolie’s delicious stuffed peppers and the newest frozen pizza from the grocery store across the street. We’re livin’ large ;)

7 – 8: Chris is currently in Newquay, UK (Wales) so he missed out on Halloween this year. I ended up having all 6 missionaries over with our friend Isabel to celebrate. We had pumpkin ravioli with roasted squash and coconut panna cotta bloody eyeballs for dessert.  ‘Tis the season!  ‘Tis also the season for candles. It’s fully dark by 5:30 now. Bring on the vitamin supplements!

9: ‘Tis ALSO the season for Julebrus! It’s a special Norwegian soda that only comes out at Christmastime. Since Norway only kinda sorta celebrates Halloween and doesn’t celebrate Thanksgiving… we decided we didn’t feel guilty about starting Christmas early this year. So we bought some Julebrus and drank it while listening to Christmas music BEFORE Halloween. Gasp! We have such rebellious spirits.

10: This is our friend Anna. She’s awesome and knows all the good places to eat in Stavanger. This particular photo takes place in Alletiders, a French cafe in Sandnes with drool-worthy roasted chicken and mushroom risotto. Seriously. I’m salivating right now.

11: This warms my heart every time I look at it!

12: Skittles LOVED her new toy. Until it fell off it’s hook and crashed onto her cage. She still likes the bell though…

That’s all for now folks! We love you all!
