Chris Hill: The King of Awesome

We interrupt our tales of my family’s visit to Norway to bring you this important announcement:

Chris is coming home tomorrow!

He has been away in Germany for 4 loooooong weeks, beating his previous record of 21 days. I have missed him dearly and he has missed me. Not only that, but he only gets to be home for 5 days before he has to go on another work trip for 2 weeks! He loves his job, but times like this tend to wear a man down!

This particular trip has been a very long, very dull, and very lonely one. So to welcome him home in style, I’d like to brag about a few of the reasons why he has been sorely missed here at home.

  1. He remains suave and debonair while rocking manly facial hair like nobody’s business.
  2. He speaks like a gentleman with impeccably correct and proper grammar.
  3. He has finished reading 11 novels since he left home.
  4. He knows everything about computers. Go ahead. Just ask anyone we know.
  5. He looks super cool when he walks away from explosions.

I know I’m not the only one who considers Chris to be pretty much the King of Awesome, so if you have your own reasons please help give him a big WELCOME HOME and share them in the comments below!

Here’s Tian’s comment: “Mom, I want to watch Chris’ movie!”

    Mom: “What do you mean?”

Tian: “I want to see the rest of the movie where Chris is walking away from that big explosion in the back!”

So, Chris, in Tian’s eyes… you are a MOVIE STAR!!

:-) He really is waiting by the way… Better come up with something, quick!

Chris Hill is awesome because he can grow the most excellent beards I have ever seen!
–Also, he was clever enough to win Chelsea’s heart… Pretty much making him the envy of most men who know him…

  3. Shannon says:

Chris, Welcome Home!!! I can’t wait to see you in just 4 short weeks!! Have I ever told you that I admire your photography and photoshopping skills? Once we’re moved in to our new home, those infant photo canvases are getting a special place on my walls! Thanks for sharing your talents with me. I love seeing all these photos you guys post. I’ll admit, I’m a bit jealous… hoping that one day I’ll have time and ability to develop skills like yours.

Oh, and you have great taste. Your wife is quite the beautifully talented babe.

  4. Emily Colby says:

Amaia loves that you guys grilled corn on the little grill on our back porch.
Solia likes Chris because “he’s my friend”.
Justin says he’s awesome because his wife is awesome :)
and I think he’s awesome because he dragged his wife to our house all the time so we could have some friends while we were child-bound to our house at night while we were in Norway. It was awesome having you guys come over all the time-We miss hanging out with you guys!

    Plus his beard. Duh.

  5. John O. says:

Is that a picture of Chris? I thought it might be Ben Affleck. We all know Chris would make a better Batman, especially given all of Chris’ advanced training…and he wouldn’t have to fake the deep voice.

  6. Nicole Sailors says:

    Hi Chris!!

I just wanted to remind you of my first memory of you. It was 2004 and you picked Shannon and me up from DT to go… somewhere. Thanksgiving? All I know is you we’e wearing a black leather jacket. That’s all.

Also I enjoyed going to Sunday dinners at the Hill’s and cracking up with everyone else at your hilariousness.

Last thing, I think it is awesome you let me come to your wedding. If it wasn’t for you and Chelsea, I still would have never been to Vegas.

That’s pretty much all for now. :(

  7. Cameron Osborn says:

    Battlefield Chris

I really hope standard HTML works, or else this reply will be awkward.

  8. Brian says:

    Sup dude?

So pretty much you’re freakin’ awesome, man beard and all. I’m glad we’re pretty good friends now, probably the best thing that came from Macey’s. I love you bro and can’t wait to hang with you and Chelsea in a month. It’s coming fast.

    Love you,

  9. Michi says:

Ain’t nobody walk away from an explosion like Chris Hill!
It’s so fun to laugh and joke around with you, there’s never a dull moment when you’re around! I love that you are strong-willed but also really gentle and thoughtful. I also love that you are adventurous in many aspects and do things for you rather than caring what anyone thinks. Like…you will dress up for Halloween with friends as a group of misfit super heroes that no one has heard of, you can have a serious conversation about what to do during a zombie apocalypse, and you will eventually be the owner of a castle, a yacht, and an island, but still want to run a hostel for those less fortunate ;).
You are awesome and I’m so lucky to have a friend like you.

  10. James says:

He is funny and knows nerdology, can appreciate my passion for gaming.

  11. Kolie says:

Chris, you’re awesome for many reasons, one of which is that you “oppa gangnam style” like a boss!

  12. Heather says:

Chris is super awesome because he has made my friend Chelsea so incredibly happy! I saw a difference in her when you started dating, and I know she’s even happier now than she was then. Oh, and you can dance and look super awesome in a Beauty and the Beast style suit/costume. Need proof? Look here.
You’re awesome Chris, keep it up!

  13. The Mom says:

I’m going to weigh in here that I agree with the previous posts that Chris is awesome because his wife is awesome. He is also awesome because he works hard to provide for his family, even when it’s hard. And because he supports his wife in all her endeavors. And because he is a great photographer and assistant tour guide and driver. We are proud of Chris. Chelsea did good.

  14. Cory Rice says:

Chris, let’s start with random points & hope that this ends up someplace coherent.

First, you lived with me for quite a while & didn’t kill me. That’s a huge plus in my book.
Second, you gave Tasera her big boost up to level 60… On that same note, you found a midget in Duskwood by the name of Tar & befriended him for the both of us.
Third, you made it through philosophy with Mr. Ericson.
Fourth, you bowled a turkey at a singles activity & made it so I couldn’t make anymore gay jokes.
Fifth, you flew all the way from Europe to come to my reception.
Sixth, you sure can pack down hot dogs like no mans business.
Seventh, you tried to hook me up with people… Some of whom may have been crazy.
Eighth, you always listened to me during my dark days managing at Chrysalis.
Nineth, you got me season 1 of the office which was later eternally borrowed by Tar.
Tenth, you let me play games on your Alienware computer since mine from PC Craptops sucked computer balls.
Eleventh, you made an awesome helicopter animation.
Twelveth, many lunches at UVU with me.
Thirteenth, grabbing my butt while I was dancing in the Black Pearl Meadly in a Concert.
Fourteenth, letting me stare at you late at night while you slept.
Fifteenth, you got me on Myspace & then Facebook… I still need to slap you for that.
Sixteenth – somethingth, you a good man, Charley Brown!
I miss seeing you, dude! I hope life is good & filled with all sorts of misadventures!

  15. Jenna says:

Besides that Chris is the 1/2 piece to one of my favorite couples he is awesome because he doesn’t know how to be anything else! He’s smart, has a job that I still don’t think I fully understand, and he makes the best chili! 3 years later and I still remember that delicious chili! Go figure! Welcome home Chris. Now stop reading and go kiss your wife while you are home

  16. O-Dad says:

I think Chris is awesome because he can change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly…umm, well…he can do most of that. And he is definitely not an insect!! :D And he sure knows how to pick ’em when it comes to marriage. I’m proud of that man.
    Love, Chris’s Dad

  17. Julie Walton says:

It hasn’t been said yet so it has to be said-“Everybody loves Chris Hill.” (I guess I coined the phrase so I’ll take full ownership of declaring it publicly once again.) It is true though. I have yet to meet a person that within 2 minutes of meeting Chris hasn’t thought he was one of the coolest, most intriguing and intelligent people they have ever come across. Seriously, it only took one night of knowing you to know that I wanted to be friends for life. Chris, you are the brother I never had, and for winning the heart of my best friend you get +1,000,000 awesome points. You are doing amazing things!! Good luck in Latvia!

  18. Joanna says:

Basically, all of the above, and apart from
Being MIA most of the time, he is our all time favorite expat and ss pres and translation coordinator! :-)
Oh, and he has really good taste in women and movies. :-)

  19. Carrie and Kjetil says:

We think Chris is awesome because of killer bunnies, root beer, laughter and genuine friendship! Glad you’re back, even if it’s only for a short time!

  20. Susana Wilkinson says:

Chris, you are a wonderful, strong person. I love you very much even though we are miles apart. You have a fun and very energetic personality. There are many people who you have touched. I am so blessed to call you my big bother. I still remember you reading, “If you give a mouse a cookie?” Boy what fun we had. I know my kids are going to enjoy having you uncle cause you are have such a great personality. I am so very grateful for you, Chris and I know that the lord loves you just as much as your family.

  21. Josh says:

Chris, you have a unique talent to be poised and composed while at the same time making everyone around you feel comfortable and welcome. You can be incredibly supportive at one moment, and yet carry on a debate without making the other side feel invalidated. You co-lead your family with confidence and I take great pleasure in calling you my friend. Keep up the hard work and be grateful for the wonderful life you and Chelsea have created for yourselves. We miss you tons and really hope we can work something out to see you two sometime in the relative future (or at least skype!). Love ya brother!

  22. Jason and Jess says:

Chris is awesome for many reasons, but the biggest proof of his awesome-ness is that he has won the hearts of the fabulous Chelsea and our dog, who just loves him. Takes a whole lotta awesome. Amen.

  23. M&E Hill says:

Lizzy just told me that she is super excited to meet her uncle Chris when we come for Brian’s wedding in November. It’s ironic that we both grew up living far away from our aunts, uncles and cousins for most of our lives and here we both are doing it all over again. Living far away but keeping the dream alive.

I’m so proud of you for doing the work you do. Having deployed twice now I can tell you first hand that the civilians in a deployed environment are usually the most under-appreciated people in a combat (or training) environment. What makes it tougher is that because they don’t wear the uniform, they never get the same thank-you/hugs/smiles that soldiers usually get; what’s worse is that the soldiers usually don’t appreciate them either.

So, from a soldier, I just want to say thank you for your service and for giving up being close to family so that you could serve our country in the best way you can.

You’re a great man, a better brother and almost the best husband in the world (ask Elisangela if you want to know who’s the best). :-)

    We love you!
